Featherstone star Tom Holmes out for season

Featherstone utility-back Tom Holmes has been ruled out for the rest of the season after rupturing his ACL.

The 22-year-old has been in fine form in the Championship this season and even caught the eye of a couple of Super League clubs with his impressive performances.

However, they will have to wait or look elsewhere because Holmes will not play again in 2018.

The half-back or full-back is gutted to miss the rest of Rovers’ campaign.

He said: “I’m absolutely gutted to miss the rest of the year due to rupturing my ACL.

“It will be frustrating having to watch knowing I won’t be able to get on the pitch with the boys but I know they will smash it.

“An operation and a lot of recovery is needed to make sure I’m going to be back fitter and stronger than ever for next year.

“There is a long nine months ahead but I’m ready for the challenge.”

Featherstone are on course to seal a spot in the Qualifiers this year, with them currently sitting in third in the Championship table.
