Featherstone sign trio

Featherstone have strengthened their squad ahead of Saturday’s Northern Rail Cup tie against Widnes with three new signings.

Trialist Tom Hemingway has penned a permanent deal while former Leeds and Castleford man Jonny Hepworth is returning to rugby league with the Rovers. The third player is Dave Williams, who moves up from Harlequins on loan.

Head Coach Daryl Powell said: “I’ve had to do a fair bit of looking around to strengthen our pack and Dave fits the bill. He’s a big rangy prop, with a lot to offer.

“Tom has been with us over a month now. He can play hooker or half back and is a quality young bloke.”

Hepworth, who can play at hooker, full-back or stand-off, has been plying his trade in rugby union for Leeds, Leinster and most recently Rotherham Titans.

Powell said: “Jonny is versatile and gives us good options in attack. He is quick and strong. Jonny has already trained with us and fits in with the group very well, which I thought he would- I coached him at Leeds. Jonny will join us when he has completed his commitments with the Titans.”
