Featherstone have announced the signing of Jamie Cording from Huddersfield on a two-year contract.

Cording, 23, made 19 appearances for the League Leaders Shield winning Giants in 2013, which shows the calibre of player Rovers are signing.

Incoming Featherstone head coach John Bastian said, “Jamie is a big, strong, athletic young man and plays the game with energy and enthusiasm.

“I feel Jamie is a player with lots of potential. Like any player, he has areas of his game that need to improve but I feel if he works hard then that will take his game to another level.

“He is returning to his hometown club which should be a great motivational factor for him and it is great to see a local lad returning.”

The player himself said, “I’m really excited about joining Featherstone Rovers. I am a Featherstone lad and there is a good feeling of optimism about our future in the town.

“Rovers are an ambitious club moving in the right direction and I want to be a part of what is happening. I’m sure with a lot of hard work the club will continue to grow and move forward.”

The Featherstone-born back-row forward signed for Huddersfield in 2010, after time at Castelford and Gateshead.
