Featherstone Rovers have confirmed that forward Luke Cooper has joined League 1 outfit Doncaster on an initial two-week loan deal.

Cooper, 28, has made more than 150 appearances for Featherstone as a one-club man. He made his debut with the club back in 2015.

He has made just two appearances so far this season, both from the bench in wins over Keighley and Swinton.

The forward was a part of the 1895 Cup winning side over Sheffield back in 2021 at Wembley with a 41-34 score.

He is available for Doncaster’s Challenge Cup fourth round tie against London Broncos, having missed out on Featherstone’s third round defeat to Halifax.

Cooper could also feature against Cornwall in League 1 the following week.

Doncaster boss on addition from Featherstone Rovers

Doncaster head coach Richard Horne said: “He’s got a lot of experience in the Championship and has captained Featherstone for long periods too so he will be a good addition for us.

“The reason for bringing him in is to help drive those standards within the squad and keep the competition in the middle unit nice and healthy.

“He can come in and play straight away. It fits well for us and Luke given that he needs games and we wanted an extra body in there.

“We looked at trying to get him last year but the minute we went in he started playing every week so had no chance. But it’s good to be able to bring him to the club this time around.”
