Featherstone move for Steve Crossley

Featherstone have signed former Bradford prop Steve Crossley from Championship rivals Dewsbury.

Crossley, 21, moves to the Bigfellas Stadium on a two-year deal, having recently won the Rams’ Player of the Year award.

He said: “After meeting Daryl Powell and looking around the facilities at Featherstone Rovers I am sure I have made the right decision. Featherstone Rovers are an ambitious club and have the right foundations in terms of the playing side and off the field too.

“They have been the most consistent side in the Championship for the last three years and I am looking forward to testing myself in a winning side. I’ve had some great feedback on the club from the likes of Kyle Briggs, Anthony England and James Lockwood and can’t wait to get started. There has been some interest from Super League but I feel Featherstone Rovers is the right club for me.”

Crossley made nine senior appearances for the Bulls, making his debut against Crusaders in 2010, before moving to Dewsbury, initially on loan.

Featherstone Head Coach Daryl Powell added: “We are delighted to sign Steve who is a great addition to our pack for the next two seasons. He is big, tough and will thrive alongside our current front rowers. He has been a quality player in the Championship this season and proved himself as a high standard player for the now and in the future.”

Last weekend, Featherstone secured their third successive Championship league leaders’ shield.
