Featherstone game moved to Don Valley Stadium

Sheffield Eagles have agreed to move Thursday’s game against Featherstone Rovers from Bramall Lane to Don Valley Stadium.

The decision has been made after United’s playing surface suffered after their 0-0 draw with MK Dons on Saturday with standing water on the pitch after the game and the pitch will need a minimum of a fortnight for new grass to take hold.

This along with the recent snow and rains plus the forecast of more inclement weather, both clubs decided to make the joint decision to move the fixture and allow the Bramall Lave surface more time to recover.

Eagles Head Coach and Chief Executive Mark Aston said, “It’s disappointing that we have to move the game but we have made the joint decision with Sheffield United and fully recognise the need to do so.”

“We’d like to thank Sheffield International Venues for agreeing to stage our game at Don Valley Stadium and look forward to welcoming our supporters, sponsors and our visitors Featherstone to Don Valley on Thursday.”

The game will kick off at 7.30pm, live on Premier Sports and anyone who has already purchased a ticket for the game or exchanged their season ticket voucher for a ticket can still use these at the game on Thursday.

Sheffield United & Sheffield Eagles would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and further Eagles fixtures at Bramall Lane are due to still go ahead as publicised.
