Featherstone fight off Super League clubs to keep youngster

Featherstone have staved off interest from Super League clubs to give young hooker Sam Day a new two-year contract.

The Wakefield-born scholarship player has been a regular in the club’s Under 19s this season.

He said: “I am delighted to have signed a new contract with Featherstone Rovers. I am really enjoying my time at Featherstone and feel my game is really improving at the club.

“My ambition is to play Super League rugby league and I feel that I can fulfil my ambitions by remaining at the Big Fellas Stadium. There was interest from Super League clubs but I feel best placed here to develop my game.”
