Featherstone have released a statement confirming half-back Dane Chisholm has faced an RFL tribunal facing an accusation of discriminatory language.

The incident is alleged to have happened when Featherstone faced Oldham back in August. Featherstone won that match 48-10 at Bower Fold.

However, the 31-year-old denies the allegation, and says he will be appealing the decision.

Chisholm posted a message on Twitter, saying: “I strongly deny the allegation against me. We are currently going through an appeal process.

“This isn’t going to stop me from preparing for a big 2022 season on and off the field. Hope everyone has an amazing Christmas.”

Featherstone to back Chisholm

Meanwhile, Featherstone have released a statement saying they are backing their player. Chisholm signed for the Rovers back in 2019 from Bradford, and has been a key player for them during that time.

He has helped the club to the Million Pound Game twice during his time with the Flat Cappers. He played in both games against Toronto in 2019, and Toulouse in 2021.

They added on the club website: “Dane strongly denies the accusation. We stand by Dane and are appealing the decision.

“Featherstone Rovers have a track record of working with people of all backgrounds, in particular, our work with members of our community with learning difficulties is second to none, these are projects that Dane and other members of the squad have played a key part in.

“We work closely with our principal partners at Millennium Support to provide opportunities for those with learning difficulties, this is well demonstrated in our LDRL programme of which we’re incredibly proud.

“Whilst we work with Dane and legal counsel on the appeal process, we will not be making any further comment at this time.”
