Featherstone crowd tops Super League pair

Featherstone chief executive Craig Poskitt hailed the club’s recent marketing campaign, after they recorded a crowd of 3,686 for Sunday’s visit of Halifax.

The crowd eclipsed those of London v St Helens (2,839) and Salford v Castleford (2,306) in Super League, and those in attendance saw Rovers come away 40-18 winners against top of the table Fax.

Poskitt said: “We would like to thank both sets of supporters for their attendance yesterday. The atmosphere they created was brilliant and in return they were rewarded with a great spectacle which was a fantastic advert for the Kingstone Press Championship especially with RFL Chairman Brian Barwick and Blake Solly present.

“The quality on show was equal to or better than many Super League matches this year which is a credit to both teams.

“We were delighted with the attendance of 3,686 and hope this is a sign of things to come. It was greater than two Super League fixtures on the same weekend which is a positive sign of the potential we have at Featherstone Rovers.”

Work continues on Rovers’ re-development of Bigfellas Stadium, with clear progress being made at the railway end of the ground.
