Featherstone have signed former Hull and Harlequins winger Will Sharp.

Sharp, 26, has been playing rugby union for Doncaster Knights since leaving Hull at the end of last season, and now returns to the 13 man code.

Born in Nigeria, Sharp came through the academy set up at Harlequins after being spotted playing for local community club South London Storm.

Rovers head coach Daryl Powell said: “Will is a very quick winger who we are delighted to welcome to the club. His ability to beat people is exceptional in the Jason Robinson mould.

“His addition to the squad will help our current wingers to raise the bar to compete for places. I look forward to working with Will for the remainder of the season.”

Sharp scored 19 tries in 72 appearances in the capital before signing for Hull in 2010, scoring 12 tries in 37 appearances.

He added: “I’m really excited for signing for an ambitious club like Featherstone Rovers and looking forward to meeting up with the squad and meeting the boys. I know Lamont Bryan very well from my time in London as well as Andy Ellis. I’m eager to make an impression and adding to already a very good squad.”

Sharp goes straight in to contention for Sunday’s Championship clash with Halifax, while Featherstone are also expected to sign at least one other player this week.
