Flying winger Paul White has joined prop Sam Barlow and back-rower Stephen Bannister in signing new contracts with Halifax this week.

Former Huddersfield flier White joined the club at the start of last season, while Barlow was a mid-season capture from Sheffield.

The hometown forward, will be joined by younger brother Josh who has also signed a deal with the club, and said: “It was great when I came back to the club in the summer andI always wanted to stay. Playing for your home town club is like nothing elseand I can’t wait to get next season under way. There was a lot of talk about memoving but to be honest I just wanted to focus on my game. I honestly feel this team will be strong again next year and I can’t wait to help defend the title.”

Bannister is another player to commit to The Shay for next season, having joined from Widnes, after previously playing for St Helens and Salford.

Head coach Matt Calland said: “Stephen finished 2010 in great fashion. He had a torrid few years with injuries but he has always been a player with great potential. We feel he is on a good track right now and are excited to see how he progresses. He has a lot to learn but is eager to do so.”

“I am really happy to get Paul on board as he has a lot of experience and creates great competition in the backs. We have really got a competitive bunch of forwards and we want to replicate that in the backs. Paul will add to that and we are keen to see what he can do next year.

The speedy winger, who has played for Salford and Wakefield in the past, is one of the first backs to be confirmed for 2011.

“So far it has been mainly forwards but that won’t be the case for long. We have a great set of lads and they are all up for the challenge. It’s a good position to be in as a coach and we are looking forward to another good season.”
