The Wales Rugby League have confirmed that South Wales Scorpions hooker Connor Farrer has been called up into John Kear’s squad for the forthcoming European Championship.

The dummy half replaces St Helens player Matty Fozard, who has broken his jaw in a training incident.

Farrer, 20, played in all three European Championship games for Wales last year, and is looking forward to adding to his tally of caps.

“I’m delighted to have been called up to the Welsh squad,” he said.

“Although it’s sad that it had to happen in such a way. I’m gutted for Matty and I wish him all the best in his recovery.”
