Fantasy RL: Picking your team – top wingers

James Gordon

Ahead of the new season, we’ll be looking at options for your Fantasy Rugby League team in all positions in both Super League and the Championship.

Today we’re looking at wingers, who if picked right, could be your most prolific non-goalkicking option.

There are four players who can be chosen at a top price of £200k in the Super League competition. Greg Eden, Jermaine McGillvary, Morgan Escare and Tommy Makinson. All four scored more than a century of points in last season’s competition, with McGillvary chipping in 150. Eden was way out in front on 250, and he’ll be in the forefront of many Fantasy RL manager this season.

In the Championship, Misi Taulapapa is the most expensive winger (£50k) while Wayne Rettie of Batley comes in at 40k having scored 193 points last season. Toulouse flyer Kuni Minga is also a prolific point scoring option.

At the other end of the scale, there are a number of wingers who can be picked up at good value, especially if they get a prolonged run in the team. Liam Marshall (£100k) is one of them – he scored 160 points last season. If Castleford’s Garry Lo (£75k) gets gametime, he’s surely going to score tries in that team, while Lewis Tierney (£100k) will get plenty of chances at Catalans.

In the Championship, Scotland international David Scott might be worth a look at £20k, as well as Dewsbury’s Gareth Potts. Both players scored well over a century of points last season.
