The Hunslet Independent Supporters Trust and its members are now majority owners of Championship side Hunslet Hawks, after taking their shareholding up to 56%.

Previous owners Grahame Liles and Sean Cluderay have formally signed over their shares in the club, with Liles being named as Honorary Life President.

Current Chairman Neil Hampshire said: “This is a truly historic moment for the club and our fans. Our future is now very much in our own hands and I would encourage all those who haven’t yet done so to join the Trust and become part of the new ownership regime.

“On behalf of the Board, the HIST committee, its members and Hunslet supporters everywhere, I would like to place on record our gratitude for this outstanding gesture of generosity which reflects much credit on Grahame and Sean.

“Without their support in recent years the club probably would not have existed and in that regard we will be forever in their debt.”

HIST remain in talks with other major shareholders with a view to increasing their ownership of the club to 76% in the near future.

Cluderay, and Liles’ wife Margaret, have accepted roles as Honorary Life Vice Presidents.
