Enterprising Langley wants to be one club man

Jamie Langley has already got one eye on the future as he admits he wants to see out the rest of his rugby league career at Bradford.

Langley, 29, is a one-club man, having played for the Bulls since his debut in 2002, going on to make more than 230 appearances for the club, as well as earning international honours.

Out of contract at the end of next season, Langley is keen to stay at Odsal, and is also starting to build up his own brand off the pitch.

He said: “I’ve spent 12 or 13 years at Bradford and absolutely loved it. I’ve never wanted to leave, not even with all the trouble last season, and I’d like to spend the rest of my career here.

“Off the field is really settled now, and it’s enabled the lads to relax a bit more and as a result they’re enjoying it, and everyone’s on the up, so it’s a huge boost for the club.

“Francis (Cummins) is in charge now, and he deserved the chance. It would have been a travesty if anyone else had got the job. He’s worked with world class coaches like Tony Smith before, and the lads already look up to and respect him as a coach.”

Away from playing, Langley has now teamed up with former Bulls hooker Wayne Godwin, now at Salford, and Sheffield forward Duane Straugheir to set up We Are Taurus, a company with the goal to inspire people to improve themselves or to get in to sport.

He added: “We’re trying to do something a bit different, creating a brand that incorporates clothing, fitness classes and more. Over the last few months, it’s been going really well, so we’re hoping it provides a good base for when we finish our playing careers.

“Other than that, never say never. I’ve got some coaching qualifications, so maybe that. I love sport, love training and love fitness, that’s what I want to be doing.”

A recent “Body Blitz” camp at Odsal, consisting of an eight week programme of stair running, running up hills, circuits, body weights and more, has proved very popular, and more classes are already being taken up for the New Year. A website will be launched soon.

The trio will be back at Odsal this Sunday, December 9th, for the Bulls Christmas Fayre, with their own stall where We Are Taurus merchandise will be available. The event takes place in the newly-refurbished Coral Stand between 12-5pm, with a range of stalls, carol singing, kids games, raffle prizes and a tombola with items donated by players and staff.
