England players battling fitness

England players Jamie Peacock (knee), Gareth Ellis (back) and James Graham (back) are responding to treatment as they continue their efforts to be fit ahead of Saturday’s final group game of the 2011 Gillette Four Nations against New Zealand at the KC Stadium, kick off 6.00pm.

All three players missed much of the second half in Saturday’s 36-20 defeat to Australia at Wembley Stadium are receiving intensive treatment throughout the rest of this week as a full internal investigation continues on the extent of their respective injuries.

“It s too early to say whether the three players will be fit for Saturday’s game,” said England coach Steve McNamara.

“Under the expert guidance of the England medical team, ongoing investigations and intensive treatment is being carried out on the three players. They will be continually assessed every day. The players are responding to treatment and we will get a clearer picture on their level of fitness later in the week.”
