Super League young player of the year Sam Tomkins has been called up to the England train-on squad, alongside team mate Sean O’Loughlin.

Stand-off Tomkins, 20, and loose forward O’Loughlin join up with the squad following Wigan’s exit from the play-offs at the weekend, and their inclusion takes the total number in the squad preparing for the Four Nations to 22.

Smith will name his squads for the match against Wales in Bridgend on Saturday October 17 and the Gillette Four Nations at a media conference next Monday, October 12.

England kick off the Gillette Four Nations by playing France at Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster, on Friday October 23 and face Australia at DW Stadium, Wigan on Saturday October 31 before playing New Zealand at Galpharm Stadium, Huddersfield, on Saturday November 7.
