Jacob Emmitt has agreed a new deal with Castleford which will keep him at the club until the end of 2014.

The news will come as a boost for the Tigers, who currently lie 11th in Super League with three wins, ahead of their Challenge Cup derby match with Featherstone Rovers.

Emmitt has expressed his delight to be committing his future to the Tigers.

He said: “Basil (Ian Millward) has things going in the right direction, he’s looking at bringing the right people into the team and I’m really happy here. There was never much doubt about me staying.

“I’m glad I can now concentrate on moving forward and hopefully having a successful year.”

Having won the club’s Forward of the Year Award, Emmitt joined Castleford after appearing in a Grand Final with St Helens in 2010.

Ian Millward was equally delighted to have secured the services of the former St Helens player, which follows the news of Jonny Walker’s two year extension last month.

Millward said: “We’re really excited to Jake. He plays good minutes, is always developing his game and is only 23 years of age.

“It’s a big plus for the club moving forward and for the rest of the season.”
