Emmet hoping for Summer Bash boost for Dons

Doncaster loose forward Mike Emmett hopes that a win over Hunslet at the Summer Bash in Blackpool this weekend can give his team some momentum.

The Dons are yet to win in 13 games this season, and coach Paul Cooke recently departed the club as a result.

But a much-needed victory could give the campaign some fresh impetus, Emmett believes.

“Everybody will get that little bit of belief back,” he said.

“Without sounding harsh, it’s like a fresh start for everybody. Nobody has played at the Summer Bash before, so everyone will be excited; it’s on television so that might raise a few people to go that little bit more.

“The lads are looking forward to it, it’s up to us.

“We need some points on the board. We’ve still got the season to finish and the Super 8s, so it’s still not over.

“At Doncaster we’ve always had a good group of guys, a tight group. This weekend we’ve got to take it upon ourselves to raise our game and put in an extra 10 per cent.”
