Eloi Pelissier to leave Catalans

Catalans Dragons have confirmed that hooker Eloi Pelissier will depart from the club at the end of the season.

The player wants to seek a club where he will be first choice dummy half. He will not be offered a new deal by Catalans.

The 25-year-old French international made 144 Super League appearances and scored 23 tries for the club, after making his debut in 2011.

“The decision to not offer a new contract has been taken unanimously by the board members,” said Dragons chairman Bernard Guasch.

“Eloi was looking for a club where he could be the first choice in his position and I think it’s a good opportunity for him to have a fresh start at another Super League side.

“He has great qualities but I think he gets so much support here that he may need a calmer environment to succeed. He needs to keep working hard, he has a great career ahead of him and I wish him the best for the future.”
