Ellis returns for Fev

Andy Ellis has returned to Featherstone and is set to play for Rovers against Dewsbury this Sunday.

Fev take on the Rams at the Big Fella’s Stadium. Hooker Ellis had been part of Rovers since 2013 but had given up rugby league late last year.

“We were disappointed at the end of last season when Andy Ellis decided he would take up a career opportunity outside of the game for a year which meant that he could not commit to the club,” Fev coach Jon Sharp said.

“Fortunately, Andy has made himself available which is great news for us. We’ve been pleased with how we have been playing attack wise but we have missed a traditional hooker.

Danny Craven and John Davies have stepped up and applied themselves well but it’s a specialised role so the return of Andy is a huge boost.

“His return should make us more fluid in attack and more potent. He finished last season in outstanding form playing 80 minutes in the Kingstone Press Championship Shield final against London Broncos.

“It shouldn’t take him long to settle in as he knows our systems and how we coach but we do expect a certain bit of rustiness having not played since last October but we are sure this will not last long.”
