The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats are delighted to announce that hooker Andy Ellis will be joining the club next year.

The 26 year old has put pen to paper in a deal that will see him in the Red, White and Blue for the next three years.

Ellis has joined Wakefield after a 2 year spell at London based club, Harlequins. In a successful career that has seen him play for both Hull KR and Barrow Raiders before joining the Quins, Andy is no stranger to finding the score line, making a total of 74 touchdowns scoring a fantastic 294 points.

The talented hooker was named ‘Man of Steel’ in 2009 whilst he played in the Championship for the Raiders and has claimed the number 9 shirt for the London side this year. Andy has appeared in all 23 games of Super League XVI this season claiming an ever present run of form.

After an impressive season at Harlequins, Andy is on the fringes of the England set up and could be making his international debut in the near future after interest from current England Coach Steve McNamara.

Andy is very happy to be joining the Wildcats, “I’m really looking forward to the opportunity ahead of me. With the fantastic Super League news last week, there really is a sense of a start of something new at the club and I’m delighted to be a part of that.”

“I can’t wait to begin training with the team in the pre season and begin this new challenge. I’m confident that Wakefield are a team that will go far next year and I would like to thank Andrew Glover and James Elston for giving me this opportunity.”

Chief Executive James Elston added, “Andy is a great signing for us. His experience in the hooking role will be an asset to the side next year and his ability to cross over the line will be a further boost.”

“I am certain that we will see great things from this player and I am delighted that he has committed himself to the club for the next three years.”
