England forward Gareth Ellis has been cleared to play in Sunday’s Autumn International Series final against France.

Ellis, 31, was placed on report following a high tackle on France full-back Cyril Stacul during the 44-6 win at Craven Park last weekend.

However, after reviewing the incident this morning, the Match Review Committee has deemed that no further action was necessary and Ellis will be able to take his place in head coach Steve McNamara’s side to face the French at the Salford City Stadium.

It will be Ellis’ 18th England appearance on Saturday, adding to the 17 games he also played for Great Britain.

The former Wakefield and Leeds man will return to Super League next season with Hull, after spending the past four seasons with Wests Tigers in the NRL.
