Sheffield Eagles have confirmed that back row forward Elliot Minchella has signed a two-year deal with the club for the 2016 season.

Minchella has played six times for Leeds in Super League, and played on loan last season for London Broncos.

“Elliot will be a terrific signing for Sheffield Eagles and he fits in perfectly with what we are trying to achieve here,” director of rugby Mark Aston told the Eagles’ official website.

“He has good experience for a man of such a young age, and also has played games at Super League level. I have long since been an admirer of his ability and I even tried to sign him before he moved to London last season.

“He will have benefited greatly from his time at London and we are delighted to have been able to bring him here on a full-time contract.”

“I think Elliot was 17 when Leeds gave him his debut so that says how highly they thought of him.

“He has had a terrific grounding and Keith Senior can vouch for that because he worked with him at Leeds. We know what he is capable of, it is just about how we get that out of hi now. It is an exciting challenge.
