Elliot Liku joins Oldham on loan

Leigh Centurions have confirmed that prop forward Elliot Liku has joined League 1 outfit Oldham on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old has been captaining Leigh’s reserve side this season.

“As I said when we allowed Jamie Tracey to join Barrow on loan recently, sadly the Reserves competition has been a non-event this year,” said Leigh coach Paul Rowley.

“This loan will allow Elliot the opportunity to play at a higher level in a good competitive environment. It helps Oldham out and it will be a valuable learning curve for Elliot at a crucial stage of his development as a player.

“We will be monitoring Elliot’s performances at Oldham, as we do with all our players who are at other clubs and hopefully he will get his opportunity to play at first-team level for the first time and come back to us a more experienced player.”

Will Hope, who was a free agent, has also signed for Oldham.
