Eden flattered by Slater comparison

Young Huddersfield full-back Greg Eden says he is keeping his feet on the ground after being compared to Billy Slater by coach Nathan Brown.

Eden, 22, starred in the Giants’ win over Leeds on Friday which saw them return to the top of the Super League table, and he was compared to the Australia and Melbourne full-back in the post-match press conference.

He told the club’s official website: “It’s really good to hear something like that, it just gives me a huge boost in confidence. I look up to Billy Slater and he’s obviously a very good player, I’m delighted to be named in any comparison to him.

“It’s really going well so far. When I first came here I didn’t expect to be playing at all, so every game is a bonus for me.”

Eden made his debut for Castleford in the Challenge Cup against Rochdale last May and appeared on the wing in defeats against Warrington and Wigan in his only Super League appearances for the Tigers.

He then made the switch to the Galpharm Stadium in the close season, signing a two year deal, and he has appeared at full back in all but one of Huddersfield’s nine Super League games to date.
