Halifax outside back Jake Eccleston has signed for Rochdale for the 2017 season.

The 21-year old winger or centre has signed a one-year deal after finding chances limited at the Shay this season, making just eight appearances.

“I won’t be targeting the Halifax game but it’ll be nice when it comes around and I’ve definitely got a point to prove,” Eccleston admitted.

“I’ve not been playing every week and that has been a struggle for me, so hopefully here I’ll be getting myself in the team every week.

“I’m definitely hungrier to get out there now and play as much as I can. Hopefully I can bring tries to the club and that will lead to more game time.

“I spoke to Killer and he said the club was on the way up and training is close to home, everything was practical and it is all looking good.

“Killer and the club sorted it out for me to work up in Rochdale at TBA, which suits me as well because I was looking for a job. So I’m grateful for the company and the club helping me out in that department too.”

Eccleston is excited for his new chapter with the Hornets.

“I’m looking forward to getting started,” he said.

“I’m obviously happy that they got promoted and that I’ll be playing in the Championship next year.

“The standard of Championship suits me and I’m just looking forward to meeting the boys and getting stuck in.

“I know that the facilities at Padgate are really good and that was definitely another factor making me want to join.

“I’ve had a few weeks off now so I just want to get stuck into it and get going again.”
