Eastwood waiting for Leeds move

Canterbury back rower Greg Eastwood will complete a move to Leeds this month if his appeal against a UK work ban is successful.

Eastwood agreed to join the Rhinos in the close season, but his move was blocked by the new work permit regulations in the UK.

He has since returned to play in the NRL for the Bulldogs, but the Rhinos have informed the New Zealand international he has a contractual obligation to join them.

Eastwood said: “If the answer is yes, it’s in my contract that I’ve got to go.

“I’ve been in touch with the coach. They still want me over there. They didn’t go out and buy another second rower or lock.

“I had a good chat to Bluey (Brian McClennan). He’s still keen to have me.”
