Todd Carney looks set to make his long-awaited debut for Catalans Dragons against Warrington this weekend in Perpignan.

Niggling injuries have prevented the stand-off from playing in the Dragons’ first two Super League ecnounters, but he is now apparently fit and ready to take the stage.

His likely half-back partner, fellow Australian Scott Dureau, believes that Carney’s quality will soon show in Europe.

“We did a lot in pre-season on how we’d work together as a partnership and I’m really looking forward to seeing how it goes,” Dureau said.

“It may take four to six weeks or even longer to figure it out but I think it’s exciting for us and it’s exciting for the club and for the game.

“I played against him plenty back home and he’s a class act. He sees stuff in training and games before other people see it.

“He’s got extremely intelligent footy knowledge, he knows to be in the right place at the right time and his skill set is outstanding. It will be better playing with him than against him.”
