Swinton Lions head coach John Duffy has extended his contract with the Lions to keep him at the club until the end of the 2018 season.

Swinton currently sit 10th in the Kingstone Press Championship, and the Lions chairman John Roddy has revealed his delight at being able to keep hold of their head coach.

“The board is incredibly impressed with the professionalism that John has brought to the club,” Roddy told the club’s official website.

“His attention to detail and team preparation is second to none, and he has had the ability to sell the club’s ambitions and ethos to the players who are clearly buying into that vision.”

“The team spirit at Halifax last week was self-evident, and it’s many years since we could have sent out a team at that level with the ability to win in such impressive style. We’re confident that the club will continue to meet its objectives, and in that respect it’s terrific to have the stability of having a top class coach signed up for the next two and a half years.”

Duffy himself has already said he is happy to be extending his stay at the club, and believes the club is heading in the right direction.

“I’m absolutely delighted to have signed an extension to my contract,” Duffy said.

“The club is moving in the right direction both on and off the field. John Roddy and the Board have supported me from day one with anything I’ve asked for (within reason!), whilst the players, staff and especially the fans have all bought into the open and transparent vision that the club now has.”
