Featherstone Rovers have announced that Jay Duffy will join the club as an assistant coach.

Duffy is a highly-regarded coach in the game, having a successful stint with Swinton Lions.

He will now link up with brother and Rovers boss John Duffy.

Jay Duffy spent six years at Wigan Warriors working alongside Michael McGuire and Shaun Wane and played a big role in guiding Swinton to secure Championship status for 2018.

And Fev boss John Duffy thinks his brother can contribute a lot next season.

He said: “We are really pleased to be welcoming Jay to Featherstone.

“He comes with an impressive track record and is someone I trust, having worked with him at Swinton.

“Jay spent a number of years learning his trade under Michael McGuire and Shaun Wane, at Wigan, and he will add a great deal to what we are looking to achieve in 2018.

“He is looking forward to coming to work for a bigger club, with an exciting squad of players to boot and he will be introduced to the guys very soon.”

Duffy is currently part of Scotland’s backroom staff so he is in Australia for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup at the moment but will link up with the squad when he gets back.
