Wayne Bennett has named a strong St George squad that will travel to the UK to take on Wigan in the World Club Challenge next weekend.

Mark Gasnier, Jason Nightingale, Brett Morris and Nathan Fien all feature in the squad that will line up against the Warriors on February 27 at the Probiz Stadium.

In fact, coach Bennett has named 14 members of the squad that picked up an NRL premiership last season to travel to the UK.

For the former Brisbane coach, the match will be a good measure of their form, ahead of their title defence which begins in March.

Said Bennett: “The World Club Challenge is a prestigious event on the international rugby league calendar and everyone at the Dragons is very proud of the achievement of winning the 2010 NRL competition which affords us this opportunity to participate.

“We have had a strong pre-season and I am happy with our preparation leading into the match against the English champions, Wigan,” added Bennett.

“All the players have been extremely committed throughout the pre-season and it was a difficult decision to determine the final make up of the travelling squad.

“Wigan are a quality team and will be a huge challenge, particularly on home soil but one that we are all looking forward to.”
