Salford’s head coach Brian Noble has confirmed the appointment of former Leigh Centurions and Castleford Tigers full-back Stuart Donlan as his assistant.

Donlan, 34, was assistant to Ian Millward at Castleford until both were sacked last month, and takes the place of Sean Long who resigned last month and joined Wigan. He will not be the only person brought into the coaching staid as Noble is set to turn around the club’s fortunes.

Noble said: “It’s certainly not complete. This team does have a bit of catching up to do on the coaching front and the more resources we can throw at that, the quicker we will improve.”

Salford are currently bottom of the Super League and were knocked out of the Challenge Cup by holders Warrington at the weekend.
