Doncaster still hopeful over Cooke

Doncaster are still hopeful of sealing a deal to sign former Hull and Hull KR playmaker Paul Cooke.

Last month, the club made an appeal for local businesses and sponsors to come on board to help fund a full-time deal for Cooke, which would include a role within the club’s community department.

A club statement read: “Chief executive Carl Hall has been working hard behind the scenes to raise monies and has held meetings with the local authorities and several private organisations before Christmas.

“Representatives from the club will also be meeting up with Paul in the next week to personally update him on the situation.”

Cooke, who last played for Wakefield in 2010, took a year out of the sport in 2011.
