Doncaster have signed Greece international Stefanos Bastas on a permanent deal until the end of the 2019 season.

The forward impressed on his first appearance for the Dons last month in a 38-16 victory over Coventry Bears in the Challenge Cup.

Bastas was born in Karystos and has earned seven caps for Greece since making his international debut back in 2014.

On joining the Dons permanently, Bastas said: “I’d like to thank Richard and Carl for the trust they have put in me, I am really pleased to get an opportunity here.

“I’m looking forward to trying to make more of an impact in the team for the remainder of the season.”

Doncaster coach Richard Horne commented: “Stefanos came in and had a really good impact in the game he played, the lads have taken to him well which is always good to see.

“He strengthens our options in the middle and at this stage of the season, with league and cup competitions building up, it is important to have good strength in depth.”
