Bradford forward James Donaldson will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

Donaldson, 18, was carried off in the closing stages of Bradford’s Challenge Cup quarter-final defeat to Warrington and a specialist has confirmed that he has ruptured both his Anterior Cruciate Ligament and his Media Ligament.

The former Wath Brow amateur will have his knee in a brace for the next six weeks before being operated on and his recovery will take six months.

Coach Steve McNamara said: “It’s a devastating blow for James but it was something we expected after the initial diagnosis from our own Medical Staff. The good thing for James is that he is only young and he will shortly be able to start working on all aspects of his bodily strength and his rehab and he should be fit for the start of next season.”
