Leeds winger Scott Donald has been ruled out for three months with a shoulder injury.

Donald, 30, will undergo surgery for a shoulder reconstruction on Monday after scans revealed he had disclocated his shoulder in last Friday’s win over Salford.

Leeds Rugby’s Head of Physiotherapy Meirion Jones said, “Scott has undergone a number of scans this week and met with specialists. Unfortunately for him, the result of those meetings is that surgery is the best course of action to get Scott back fit to play. The surgeon has informed us that he is likely to be out for up to twelve weeks however we will assess Scott along the way to make sure he is progressing as expected.”

The injury rules Donald out of Sunday’s World Club Challenge game against Melbourne. He has made more than 130 appearances for the Rhinos since joining from Manly for the start of the 2006 season.
