New Zealand hopeful Jeremy Marshall-King has signed with Dolphins for their inaugural NRL season next year.

The 26-year-old was unveiled as the side’s 16th signing for the 2023 campaign. He has joined on a deal until the end of 2024.

According to reports, Marshall-King rejected offers to remain with current club Canterbury Bulldogs to link up with Wayne Bennett’s Dolphins.

A utility player, Marshall-King has found his game time at Belmore at hooker and will become the Dolphins’ first in that position.

Step brother Benji Marshall played under Bennett at the Broncos, Rabbitohs and New Zealand national team in 2008, as the Kiwi side won their first World Cup.

He made his NRL debut in 2017 with Wests Tigers, before linking up with the Bulldogs ahead of the 2018 season. To date, he has made 88 appearances Down Under, scoring eight tries.

The Dolphins were granted a license in October 2021 to compete as the NRL’s 17th side from the 2023 season. It will be the fourth NRL team in the state of Queensland and the second in the city of Brisbane, alongside Brisbane Broncos.

Bennett has signed 16 players so far, who will require a squad of 30 for the season.

The club have signed brothers Jesse and Kenny Bromwich from the Melbourne Storm from next season, leading their list of big-name signings.

Dolphins have also signed South Sydney Rabbitohs fan favourite and prop forward Mark Nicholls on a two-year deal.
