Warrington head of coaching Tony Smith has revealed that Mitchell Dodds could returnto action before the end of the season, after breaking his leg at the weekend.

Dodds sustained the injury during Saturday’s fine away win over Catalans Dragons, and has undergone surgery in France to fix the problem.

Mitchell Dodds had his operation yesterday,” said Smith, according to his club’s official website.

“It was successful and he is due out of hospital tomorrow to fly back on Wednesday. Ben Stirling, head of performance services, is over there with him.

“The surgeon was pleased with the way the bones knitted back together during the operation. Without any further complications it is expected to be a six month recovery.

“All being well, we’ll see Mitch by the back end of the season for the last month – if we play for as long we can – which would be great because he certainly, in the brief time he played, did a good job for us.”
