Dixon injury blow for Castleford

Castleford winger Kirk Dixon has been ruled out for six weeks after suffering a calf tear in training.

Dixon, 28, has had a troubled few years through injury, having spent lengthy spells on the sidelines with neck and shoulder injuries over the past two seasons.

Head Coach Ian Millward said: “Dixon was out for seven months after undergoing neck surgery as well as having six months out with a shoulder injury the year before, so I really feel for him.

“He is our best goal kicker so there is no doubt it is a blow for us.”

Last season, the former Hull man scored three tries and kicked 39 goals in 17 appearances for the Tigers.

However, Millward is hoping that new signings Keith Mason and Jordan Tansey will be fit to line-up against Warrington on Sunday, after they both sat out the club’s pre-season friendlies to date.
