Salford’s pre-season training took them to Ricky Hatton’s gym in Hyde this week, including new signing Andrew Dixon.

Dixon, 22, became the club’s first new signing for 2013 last week, moving from St Helens on a three-year deal.

Head Coach Phil Veivers said: “Andrew will do well for us. He has a wealth of Super League experience from his time at St Helens, he’s young and hard-running. He will fit in well with what we are trying to achieve next season.”

Hatton’s conditioner Jon Eade led the squad in a 90 minute work-out involving technical boxing skills before the Hitman himself made an appearance to cast his eye over proceedings.

Former World Champ Hatton, who returns to the ring in 15 days after a three and a half year absence then chatted with the squad and posed for pictures.

The City Reds are hopeful of announcing more signings as soon as their mooted takeover is complete.

Players have been seeking advice from 1eagu3 in light of the recent financial problems at the club.
