Halifax forward Titus Gwaze will remain suspended for eight matches, after an appeal against the ban failed.

Gwaze was given the eight-match suspension after a Grade F charge of Other Contrary Behaviour, namely interfering with an injured player, during the Panthers’ win over Barrow.

The Panthers forward was sent off, along with Greg Worthington, after an altercation involving Barrow centre Hakim Miloudi.

Worthington was given a three-match suspension for the role he played in the incident for punching, while Miloudi was given one match for a headbutt.

The club confirmed last week that they had started the appeal process.

In it’s findings, the Operational Rules Tribunal rejected the appeal. However, they found that the appeal was not frivolous, so no extra games have been added.

He remains unavailable until Halifax’s Round 26 match against Widnes in September at the DCBL Stadium.

Widnes forward also fails in disciplinary appeal

Widnes forward Adam Lawton’s two-match ban was also upheld by the Operational Rules Tribunal.

Lawton was sent off during Widnes’ win over Newcastle for a high tackle on Josh Woods. Woods lost his footing going into the tackle, and Lawton ended up catching him around the head.

He was charged with a Grade C High Tackle, after the Match Review Panel met to discuss any sanctions below the Super League.

Like in the case of Gwaze, the appeal was found to have not been frivolous, and therefore no extra games were added on to the original sentence.

Lawton will now miss Widnes’ Summer Bash clash against Barrow, as well as their home game against second-placed Featherstone.
