Disciplinary: Academy pair referred to tribunal
Wakefield’s Tommy-Lee Corke and Newcastle’s Ryan Crossley have both been referred to the tribunal after being charged by the disciplinary Match Review Panel.
Corke was charged with Grade D Dangerous Contact during Wakefield’s academy game against Castleford last Friday.
Detailing the charge, the Match Review Panel said: “A defending player makes contact with an opponent after the ball has been released by an opponent in a vulnerable position. Which causes flexion to the head, neck or spinal column on an attacking player, which poses an unacceptable risk of injury to that player.”
If found guilty, he faces a ban of between three and five matches.
Meanwhile, Crossley was referred for a Grade D Dangerous Throw during Newcastle’s Academy match against Warrington.
He will also face a ban of between three and five matches if found guilty.
Also from the academy matches, three other charges were given out. Hull KR’s Darnell Byas-Tash has been given two matches for a headbutt, Josh McDermott of Newcastle had the same punishment for a Dangerous Throw.
Finally, Salford scholarship player Daniel Knott has been given a one-match penalty notice for a Dangerous Throw.
League 1 trio also given penalty notices
Rochdale’s Zac Baker has been given a three-match penalty notice for Dangerous Contact during their win over London Skolars.
In the same game, Skolars forward Judd Greenhalgh was given a one-match penalty notice, also for Dangerous Contact.
Finally, Keighley’s Dan Parker has also been given a two-match penalty notice, again for Dangerous Contact during their win over Swinton.
Championship Disciplinary news
Batley’s Lucas Walshaw has been given a one-match penalty notice for Dangerous Contact. He picked it up during their win over Widnes.
Finally, Sheffield half-back Anthony Thackeray has been given a caution for Other Contrary Behaviour during their win over Newcastle. It refers to an incident of lashing out.
