Disappointment for Dons in play-off chase

Doncaster may have to do what no other club has managed this season to earn a play-off place – get a result in Canada.

The Dons lost 28-24 to Newcastle at the weekend, which means Thunder and Keighley are both breathing down their necks, just one point behind Richard Horne’s men.

Keighley travel to Barrow, while Thunder make the trip to York – the day after the Dons go to Toronto.

Horne told the club’s official website: “We need to learn to make the right decisions under fatigue as we aren’t doing that, we go to Toronto as massive underdogs now and struggling for numbers.

“This was a game that was always going to define our season and we’ve come up short again, I’ll have a good look at it and see where we’re going wrong.”

Toronto have already secured promotion to the Championship as League 1 winners, with the next four teams in the table set to fight for the second promotion spot in the play-offs.
