Dickens set for Fev milestone

Long-serving Featherstone captain Stuart Dickens will chalk up his 400th appearance for the club if he plays on Sunday at Dewsbury.

Dickens, 32, has spent virtually his entire career at Post Office Road, with a brief spell at Salford in 2005 sandwiched between two spells at the club.

The prop forward made his debut for Featherstone on March 15th 1998 in a 31-26 home win over Widnes.

He said: “I haven’t been picked for Sunday’s game yet. I suppose it is an achievement considering the position I play in, but the time to think and reflect on these things about these things will be when I hang my boots up.

“It’s all about the here and now as far as I’m concerned, and about the team. If I play on Sunday, the number of games I’ve played in the past won’t be part of my thinking at all. Being at Rovers is a big part of my life in more ways than the number of games I’ve played, although naturally I’m very proud to have turned out for such a great club.”

Dickens is just 41 short of equalling the club’s all time appearance record, currently held by Jim Denton, who played for Featherstone between 1921 and 1934.
