Dewsbury set up crowdfunding page in bid to get new changing rooms

Dewsbury have launched a crowdfunding page to raise money, so they can build new changing rooms at the Tetley’s Stadium.

Rams’ players currently use the changing rooms situated under the main stand at the stadium, but others in the community have nowhere to change when using the club’s 3G pitches.

The crowdfunder will be open for four weeks and the club are hoping to raise a target sum of £7,500 through it.

A Rams’ spokesperson said: “We are seeking funding to help build modular changing rooms, showers and toilets that are accessible to all and provide a user experience that will help to engender a positive mindset of repeat visits.

“It will also help us provide a platform to cater as a meeting and social point for a whole cross section of user groups including mother and baby walks, social and sporting events for the older person or those who may be disadvantaged, partnerships with the local authority to help deliver ‘exercise by prescription schemes’ and health improvement programmes etc.

“We are the town’s only semi-professional sports club and we want to place ourselves at the heart of the community and deliver programmes and facilities that the local authority is now struggling to do because of the lack of funding.

“The interest in the facilities so far has been very encouraging but we need to deliver a customer experience that encourages repeat visits and make physical activity both pleasurable and rewarding.”
