Dewsbury land promising half-back

Dewsbury have signed young half-back Morgan Punchard on a one-year deal from Featherstone.

The 20-year-old was under contract with Rovers for 2020 but he felt it was a good opportunity to get more game time with the Rams.

Dewsbury coach Lee Greenwood said: “Morgan has been battling to make a name for himself for a couple years now.

“He has spent time at Halifax and Featherstone and people from both clubs speak well of him.

“He is keen to learn from Liam Finn and Paul Sykes and potentially take over from them as they enter the twilight of their careers.

“He had a contract for 2020 at Featherstone but felt the opportunities here are better for him.”

Dewsbury have also confirmed that they will go into dual-registration with Coventry for the 2020 season.
