Dewsbury add Guzdek

Dewsbury Rams have reinforced their squad for the 2016 season by adding Josh Guzdek from Hull KR.

The 20-year-old full-back enjoyed a successful loan spell at Keighley in 2015, and he has also made three Super League appearances so far in his short career.

“The Rams have had a good season, finishing up there with the likes of Featherstone and London, and are playing at a good level. And that was a big attraction,” Guzdek told he Rams’ official website.

“The Championship is a much stronger competition now, with some top players dropping down, and I’m eager to challenge myself against them.

“The coach [Glenn Morrison] was also a major factor. I’ve spoken with Glenn quite a lot and I know he can develop my game – people have only had good things to say about him.

“I can also play on the wing, so hopefully I can offer Glenn a few options.

“I feel that I’m able to read the game well – see what the half-backs are doing and put numbers in the right place defensively – and I’ve worked really hard on communication during the last few years.

“I’m not the loudest off the pitch but I do pipe up on it and I have plenty to say to my team-mates.

“I’m good under the high ball, which full-backs have to be, and I’ve done a lot of work on my defence – ‘ball and all’ tackles and things like that.

“I’d like to work even harder on all of these things under Glenn and hopefully become a very good full back.”
