Demetriou looks for third straight win

Keighley coach Jason Demetriou will be hoping his side can pick up a third consecutive league win for the first time this season when they face Sheffield on Friday.

The Cougars have had an encouraging first season back in the second tier, and travel to face Mark Aston’s men tomorrow night on the back of wins over Hunslet and York.

They now have a seven point cushion over nearest rivals Dewsbury for the final play-off spot.

Demetriou said: “Last week we played to the level of the opposition, and that was evident with our defensive intensity.

“We’re going to have to be a lot tighter on Friday. We’ve got some tough away fixtures coming up, but this is a chance to win three league games in a row for the first time this year, and that’s something we want to do.

“If we get a win this week, then have a weekend off followed by back-to-back home games after that, we could really kick on from there.”

Keighley have won seven of their 12 Championship games so far this season, and could move within a point of the Eagles if they win by more than 12 points at Bramall Lane.
