Dave Lockwood joins Widnes Vikings board

Widnes Vikings are pleased to announce that Dave Lockwoood has joined the board as a non-executive director.

Dave is a director of Europe’s largest football management company “Stellar Group” with over 500 clients in football, including Gareth Bale, Joe Hart, Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana. In addition to this, an Athletics, Cricket and Rugby division which also represent the biggest names in their sport. 

Lockwood has said he is looking forward to working with the Vikings.

“Stellar group are the leading football agents in European football. I am excited to bring my own skills and experience to the Vikings board. As with all sports it is all about experience and growing as a club and business,” Lockwood said.

“I have had a relationship with the club personally as my son has spent time in the Vikings academy. One key thing for me as an outsider looking in and having one of my children involved in the club’s structure was the first class development of our youth, not only coaching them to become better athletes and starts of our future, but to grow up to be well educated young men with good life skills.

“When the opportunity came up for me to be involved with the club I did not hesitate to commit. I get what the club is driving towards and their values match that of myself both as a business man and father.

James Rule, Widnes Vikings chief executive, has told of his delight to have someone of Lockwood’s experience on board at the club.

“Dave has been very complimentary of our Youth Structure, which is very humbling coming from a man with such an insight into structures within the word of professional,” Rule said.

“The Board are excited to be able to work with Dave as we continue to evolve the on and off field operation of the Vikings. His insight and experience will be an invaluable asset to our club.”
